So, free has travelled to Sweden 😉 Anderson’s book earned a book review in one of our big newspapers. Even though I never read it, I of course managed to sniff this up! The writer is less than happy with Anderson’s idea of free, and he recommends his readers to choose Tyler Cowens “Create your own economy” instead. I might pick him up on that…see, when I wrote the post on Free a week or so ago – I looked the book up on Scribd…Continue Reading “The free word never stops – or did it?”

Reading Outspoken Media’s Online Reputation Management Guide – wherein they suggest protecting your name with a service called Naymz (I won’t link it, you could Google it, but I won’t recommend it 😉 ) I haven’t heard of that service and therefor I googled… Being the skeptic I am, I looked at the results that didn’t match the company URL… and whoop there it is… BAD reputation for Naymz (Hey, guys, I recommend “reputation management” – oh wait, that’s your core business… never mind then)…Continue Reading “Online reputation irony”

Although I started the day with the outlook of NOT visiting new websites, it quickly collapsed. A good thing it did, because I stumbled on a couple of fun pages… The procrastination dissolve-o-matic sounded like the best thing since sliced bread and the website was pretty amusing! (Although I’m using “site” loosely…) BUT, I’m not interested in spending 108 USD on snickering fun…sorry, but that’s just not me. However, I’m not sure they actually EXPECTED anyone to buy anything – because at the very end…Continue Reading “Does humor sell online?!”

The “Free” saga continues, with more voices wanting to be a part of the mob or the cheering crowd. I’m leaning more towards the latter. Ian Lurie, however, have not been drinking the Free kool-aid 😉 But, he has written a humorous slandering post and also linked to the full, free copy of Free! See, information CAN be free 😉 (Although, only in the US, I might add! – which, I admit, sort of contradicts the whole free idea) I haven’t read the book yet,…Continue Reading “Information wants to be Free”

I’ve dealt a lot with questions on website navigation the last couple of months, and one of the sites I always come back to is the Swedish site Halens. Halens is a VERY old mail order firm, and their direct mail marketing has always amused me. They use personalization a lot, they print “hand written” messages on the mailing, there is a lot of “order within 7 days and get a…” – you get the picture. A couple of years ago I was mostly amazed that they…Continue Reading “Mail order company gone trendy”

Don’t you just love when two people you admire start a heated discussion about the big questions in life… or do you get flashbacks from a childhood where the parents were arguing? 😉 Well I like it, and since I highly respect the ideas of both Malcom Gladwell and Chris Anderson, I must say this is a real treat! The New Yorker: Malcolm Gladwell reviews “Free” by Chris Anderson And my take? Free works! But not without being clear on the business objective… If giving…Continue Reading “Gladwell reviews Free by Anderson”

Humor is always much appreciated by me, and with the work I do there is a lot to be said for the humor on the YourPPCSucks site! Whenever I feel like a neanderthal for creating my ads manually, I can always rely on that site to pick me up 😉 And it inspires me to have some fun.. like thisI hope that it’s just a broad-match-gone-bad and that ThePrivateEquityMaster doesn’t ACTUALLY sell meth!! But…something is wrong with the PPC universe :S Either the world started…Continue Reading “Your PPC sucks – or is it suddenly great?!”

Seth GODin does it again… In his world everything is easy and up to the individual. Not always the case, I would say, but it’s hard NOT to be affected of Seths inspirational tidbits! Are you a manager or a leader? Seth makes important distinctions between “Leadership” and “Management”. Although I’ve been in contact with separate definitions before, this one is news to me. Nevertheless, it makes sense. Management manipulation of resources to get a known job done settles, probably because of lack of choice,…Continue Reading “BOOK: Tribes”
